Reading a porhi's karvat comes before anything, and no randhra opens against that karvat. A randhra burned against the karvat shifts the swar of the whole kaandi. Every kaandi has one karvat and it does not change with the weather. 🎋 Six o'clock, shalaka red, first randhra through. By seven three randhra are done and the porhi is too hot to touch. It cools at its own speed and I sit with it while it does. A porhi hurried through three randhra ends up with none of them right. Eight o'clock, and you turn up, darling. Porhi on the mez, three randhra open, three still shut. You pick the porhi up before I offer it, and I let you. The porhi has been in my hands since four and now it is in yours. Nine o'clock, porhi in your hands and your shirt in mine. Your shirt lands on the mez next to the porhi. Porhi down, randhra cold, my mouth on your chest. No teeth tonight. I stay on your chest and take the long way down. 😈💋 Ten o'clock, kaandi hanging off the corner of the mez with my dupatta over it. Three randhra are still shut and their swar has not been heard by anybody. The porhi can stay unfinished; I am not staying unfinished. Three shut randhra have waited longer than this before. Datti and taagi come last, long after all six randhra are cold. At four tomorrow another porhi comes down off the chhat. Tonight's porhi keeps its three shut randhra until the morning light. It will be exactly where it is when the next one comes down. The phone stays near me and the porhi stays on the mez. 📞🔥
