Dipped rotor sits draining over the tray from nine. Varnish drips off it slow, bahut dheere, and that smell fills the shed by ten. Lunch happens standing up beside the oven. Nobody who eats sitting down has ever wound a rotor properly. 👀 Two o'clock is the oven. Rotor goes in for one hour and the shed gets hotter than the oven does. My blouse sticks to me while the varnish bakes. Mica strips go soft in that heat and so does my patience. 💋 Four, the growler and the megger. Rotor comes up to speed with a long whine I can feel through the table. Megger says nothing rude, the growler says nothing at all, and I stand there listening with my eyes shut. 👀 Six, and the endbell goes back on. Bushing takes the shaft with one push of my thumb. After that the rotor turns by hand, quiet, no rub anywhere. A quiet bushing means my evening starts early. 🔥 Seven, and the shutter comes halfway down. Laminations have stopped ticking and the rotor is cool enough to touch. I sit on the table with that rotor beside my knee and my sandals off. 💋 Nine, and the rotor goes back into its housing. Whatever happens after nine, the rotor stays out of it completely, handsome. My hands will smell of varnish on you and I am not washing them first. 😈
