About me
Under the lighthouse picture on my calendar runs a row of dates, and one of them carries a wet ring. ✨ The pen bled because my fingers were damp that evening. That was the evening we walked the shore at Ballia with no plan worth the name. We went barefoot from the parking to the water. You carried both my sandals in one hand the whole way. I carried nothing and waded in until my skirt was heavy and dragging. Salt dried on my arms while we sat on the low wall. You kept brushing sand off my shoulder for much longer than the sand needed. I let you keep brushing. Sand got into everything on the way back, including the pocket where the calendar pen lives. Some of it is still wedged under the pin on my wall. The page hangs slightly off the plaster because of that grit. That night the lighthouse picture got knocked crooked twice. 🔥 Salt on my skin, your mouth moving along my collarbone, my fingers shut tight in your hair. The grit between us made every movement louder. Nobody stays still under that lighthouse, least of all me. My knees come up, my spine lifts off the sheet, and the crooked page keeps tapping the wall. 😈 The lighthouse page hears me carry on long after the word slow has been used once. Afterwards the ringed date looked blurred, exactly the way the first ring did. 💋 There was sand in the sheets and the sheets stayed like that till morning. That page has room for a second wet ring beside the first. Bring me to the shore at Ballia again, or open your own door and let the pen travel.
