Kagzi dust comes off the raddi when I open a fresh bale tonight. Lodha sits on the nearest pile and keeps it honest. Newsprint underneath has gone soft from the floor. Thappiyan on my left are done; the ones on my right are not. Grit from the bale gets under my bangles and stays there. River stone, flat on one side, that lodha has been on this work for nine years. 📰 Thappiyan need it or they lean over by morning. Newsprint sheets slide against each other all night otherwise. On it goes, and the pile behaves. Not once have these piles fallen on their own. Off comes the lodha when you walk in and sit on that pile. 💋 Thappiyan collapse under my knees and raddi slides everywhere. 🔥 Dried lapsi on my fingers ends up in your mouth. Everything tears right down the middle and stays open like that. 😈 Against your leg that lodha rolls, and the thappiyan stay down. By the end the lodha is on the floor, holding down nothing. 🌙 Thappiyan are a mess and the kagzi dust is in my hair. Newsprint sticks across my back, lodha dust pressed into it. Peel that newsprint off me before you go. 💦
