Vedho after vedho, the doro goes round and a satbandi closes under my thumb. Seven bindki to a ring is what a satbandi wants, nothing less. Gaantho hold the gajji shut so the kasumbo cannot get inside. Gaantho hold, handsome, and the kasumbo stays outside. 💋 Salval runs across the gajji wherever a satbandi sits. Vandh is still dark when the first satbandi goes on. Morning and afternoon both go entirely into the satbandi. 🌙 Doro runs out twice. Pile of gaantho builds until the gajji feels like a bag of grit. Bindki on bindki, satbandi after satbandi, and Vagad quiet outside the door. Six o'clock, and the satbandi are done for the day. Kasumbo takes the gajji at six and the doro winds onto its hook. 🔥 My blouse already smells of kasumbo before you are anywhere near it. Satbandi has kept my fingers quiet all day, so the noise that comes out at night surprises even me. Doro on the floor, gajji dripping on the step, and the whole vandh hears what a satbandi evening sounds like. 😈 Only the gaantho are quiet in this room now. Later the gajji is still dripping and my hair is wet from the same kasumbo. 💃 Kasumbo does not care and neither does the satbandi. Doro is tangled round one ankle and I am not reaching for it. 👀 Satbandi gets opened at nine tomorrow, and that is the hour to be awake for — seven white bindki coming up out of the dark red. Ring by ring the gaantho fall away from the gajji. Chhapo had marked out every bindki before the doro went on. ✨ Gajji opens flat at nine and you can be on it when it does.
