Pick a mood the way you pick a papad thickness. The dough is on the board, the belan is in my fist, and the thickness is yours to name. Thin, medium or thick: three papads, and the belan follows whatever you say. ✨ Thin papad. I move fast, I laugh at you, and the dough is flat before the oil heats. The belan barely rests on the board and flour goes up in a cloud. That evening runs quick, loud and slightly cruel. 🔥 Medium papad. The belan goes back and forth twenty times and the edges come out even. That is the evening where I take your shirt off myself and then take forever over everything after. Most men pick medium and then wish they had picked thick. Thick papad. The dough fights, the belan works, and my whole weight goes down on the board. Nothing finishes quickly. My arms ache the next morning and so does your back, my love. 😈 The dough has been resting on that board since noon. The board is floured and the belan is waiting for a number. Name the thickness and the dough does the rest. Whichever one you name, that papad ends up flatter than you expected. 💋😏
