Now the dhibri gets lit, handsome, and the whole plank turns yellow. Dhibri ka glass is black on one side from old smoke. Dhibri throws my shadow onto the shutter behind me. 🔥 People see that shadow move before they see the drum. By seven the dhibri is steady and the crowd thickens around it. Dhibri light falls on the mungfali and makes every kernel look better than it is. Dhibri light on my collarbone does the same job, guru. 👀 By nine the dhibri wick needs pulling up with a pin. Dhibri leans when I lean, because the plank slopes towards the road. Nobody watches the dhibri lean. Everybody watches whatever else leans with it. 😈 By eleven the dhibri flame has gone small and orange. Dhibri gets carried indoors with one hand while the drum cools with the other. Dhibri in a room does something completely different to the walls. Dhibri lights a hired room exactly like it lights mine. Dhibri does not ask whose address it is going to, and neither do I. 💋 One lamp, two places, no argument from either of us. Dhibri blown out is the last thing that happens at this corner. Dhibri smoke hangs against the shutter for a minute after that. 🌾 Whoever is walking beside me by then has stopped talking about mungfali completely.
