Glass of cold water in my hand, and I have not slept. The bakery below my window has fired its ovens, so the whole lane smells of warm bread and burnt sugar 🍞. I am standing at the window in a bra and a pair of old track pants. The water sweats down the glass and onto my wrist. I roll the cold glass slowly along my neck and let the drops run down my chest. The baker's boy is loading trays onto the carrier of his cycle. He has no clue I am up here burning. The oven heat drifts up to my face, and my skin was burning long before those ovens started 🔥. Every muscle feels loose and hungry at the same time. My hips keep pushing against the window sill. I want to be pinned under somebody warm while the first trays of bread come out. Walk in through that door now and there is no hello. I would put that cold glass on the back of your neck, just to hear you gasp. Then I would kiss the gasp right out of your mouth 😈. I would take you right on that sill with the bread smell all over us. You would try to keep it quiet for the baker's boy. I would make that very difficult for you 💦. Knock on my door, or text me your road and I turn up at yours with the smell of bread still in my hair. Either way the sill is waiting. First light is coming grey over the bakery roof. The track pants are on the floor now. The glass is empty, and so is the other side of my bed 💋.
