This nihani cuts the mortise in a chair leg, and a mortise cut crooked will show for twenty years. 🪑 Nobody else on this bench touches my nihani. It goes in at an angle, twists once, and the waste comes out clean. Sharp is how a nihani stays, because nobody else is allowed near it. The meekh part. Meekh holds a bend in the farma board while the baint cools. 👀 Seven of them for an armchair, two for a footrest. Holes come from the nihani; the meekh makes the shape; the shape makes the chair sit right under a heavy man. Meekh holes stay in that farma board for years. The goond part. Goond goes only into the leg joints, never on the woven face, because a face with glue in it stops breathing and stops giving. In practice the nihani and the goond never get mixed up. Goond dries clear and nobody who sits down ever sees it. The guthan part. Then comes guthan, the slow interlacing that takes an afternoon and leaves my thumbs dark green. 🔥 No tool for it at all, only hands, and that is why my hands are the way they are. Every guthan gets slower after four and better after six. The part that is not on the bench. My hands come off the nihani at seven, and they get interesting around nine. 😈 They put your fingers on my blouse hooks and leave you to it, slowly, while I watch. Later the nihani waits in its roll while these hands do other work. Tuesday is when the guthan can start again. The question part.
