Patli lakdi ki bench hai, and my sitting has worn a dip into the middle of it. A man from Virajpet put his hand in the hollow and said, "That is the shape of you." I told him, "Good. Now sit in it." 💋 He sat. The dip is too small for two, so his shoulder ended up under mine. "Give me some room," he said. 🔥 "Tell the bench," I said. "It will not listen to you." Then the bench started creaking. "You are moving," he said. I dropped my hand onto his knee and said, "The bench has not even noticed yet." 🌙 He asked nothing after that. My pallu was caught in that hollow and my teeth were on his shoulder. The noise coming off that bench had nothing to do with weaving. 👀 "Is everyone in Coorg like this?" was his last question of the night. By then the bench had slid a foot towards the pit and the hollow was under both of us. "Hold the leg," I told him. He held the wrong one, and I did not correct him for a while. The dip is still slightly damp from the rain that came in. Sit down in the shape of me and say what you came for; that bench will not ask you twice. 💋
