Till somebody tips a kathaut, shahad is only shahad. A tipped kathaut makes a mess that lasts till morning. Baahla mess, and the nikaasi gets blamed for all of it. Shahad on the hands means the kathaut got touched. Divya Roy touches the kathaut and then everything else. Utte that lid, one shahad print stays. Nobody moves the kathaut out of the way. 🔥 The kathaut rim coats a finger, and his mouth cleans the madhu off. Somebody knocks the ghirni and nobody straightens it. Vekh — a ghirni on its side empties quietly. Shahad goes across the floor and nobody minds that either. 😈 The nikaasi is over by morning and so is everything else. Madhu smell sits in the shed and on the skin. Chete, nobody smells only of shahad after a nikaasi night. A ghirni gets washed, dried, and set upside down. Nikaasi starts again when the next chhatta fills. Shahad from the nikaasi goes into a boyam on the shelf. 💛 Call before the nikaasi ends and the boyam goes empty. Shahad out of a full boyam does not stay around. Utte the shelf, boyam by boyam, the kathaut's work shows. 📞🍯
