Cauldron sounds grander than this small black patili of mine, which has boiled laah for nine years without once cracking. It goes on the fire at four. Laah pieces go in first and they take a long time to give up any colour 🌺. Nobody stands over that pot for an hour and feels patient about it. Its handle gets hot, so a folded kathri lives beside it. That waiting hour is the one the cauldron and I disagree about. Slowly that pot cools on the farsh while I sit on the mat beside it, bare feet and nothing useful to do. Then you knock, and the cauldron loses its turn for the whole night 😈. Laah goes nowhere. The mat under it went red last week and nobody minded. Tonight the mat takes my knees first and your weight second, honey. The cauldron keeps its heat against my shin and I leave it touching me 💋. My honth stay on your throat till the talking stops altogether. Red comes off my soles onto that mat, and onto your shirt as well. By morning the cauldron is cold. Mahawar inside it is perfect, and nobody is going to bottle it before noon 🌺.
