His first line is always about the slip sticking out of my pocket. 'What does that say?' 'Show me the balance.' I push it back down and change the subject with my palm on his thigh. 💸 The print on that slip has almost faded off anyway. Men tell me odd things once they settle in. 'You smell like wet mud.' 'Sit here, not on that chair.' I let the slip crease in my pocket and move in closer. 🙂 My pocket is warm from sitting on it all day. Then the honest ones arrive at the point. 'Take that paper out, it is poking me.' 'Keep your mouth right there.' 🔥 Both instructions get followed, babe, one straight after the other. The slip lands somewhere near the pillow. Quiet was never on my side of the deal. When he tells me to go careful, I get worse. 😈 The slip ends up crumpled under my shoulder and it stays crumpled. My noise fills that room and his hand never covers my mouth. By morning that paper is soft as cloth from being slept on, the numbers gone completely. I flatten it out and keep it for no reason at all. 💋 Wherever the next evening happens, it is coming along in the same pocket.
