Steel scrubber, hot water, and a squeak that gets louder
About me
Steel scrubber in my fist, water too hot for it, and a pan soaking since the news finished. The scrubber squeaks every time it goes round the inside of that pan. Nothing else in this kitchen is making a sound, and the squeak is getting on my nerves. 🫧 The scrubber squeaks and my shoulders finally drop. The scrubber squeaks when the burnt ring at the bottom starts to give. The scrubber squeaks louder because you have walked in and stopped right behind me. 🔥 The scrubber squeaks while your hands come round my front and stay there. The scrubber squeaks once more, then it slips out of my grip into the grey water. The scrubber squeaks no further — the pan sits half done, greasy, forgotten. 😈 Steam has reached the window. My hot wet hands go flat on your shirt, then under it, and the burnt pan keeps its ring for another day. You can hear what a scrubber sounds like when it is dropped and nobody reaches for it. 💋 That pan soaks till morning either way. The scrubber gets picked up tomorrow, in this kitchen if you come to it, or a day late if I am out at yours instead. 💦
